BATH TIME BASICS. Becoming a new mommy has changed my life and perspective on so many things, and it amazes me how unconditional my love is for this little being. I love staring or hugging Chloe while she falls asleep in my arms and my favorite is bonding with my daughter during bath time.
The first few times can be a little tricky so I want to share with other parents a short how-to guide to tackling bath time. Before you get started, gather all the things you’ll need. I prepare a bathtub, a soft hooded towel, soft wash cloths and shampoo. I also lay out her clothes so I can quickly get her dressed after we finish.
First test the water on the back of your hand or elbow, it should feel neither feel hot nor cold. (if you use a thermometer, ideal temperature is between 37-38 degrees C). I start from the top down, beginning with shampoo. I recently started using the Mustela Foam Shampoo for Newborns, which you can purchase at Diapers.com. The one-handed pump on the Mustela shampoo is really convenient, so I can use my free hand to support my daughters head. I use my hand to wash her face and next, I make my way down wiping her body with the soft wash cloth. Once I’m finished I wrap her in a soft towel and cuddle with her for a bit before changing her into clean clothes!
