HOW A FACEMAKER PREPARES FOR FASHION WEEK. A Facemaker is anyone who helps transform a person into a supermodel. The Fall/Winter 2014 starts this week Thursday, which means editors, photographers, bloggers and models are currently in full-on preparation mode. Prepping for Fashion Week is a process, from facials, moisture masks, juicing, to hitting the gym and planning our outfits.
My preparation begins by making sure my hair won’t be too grown out since I have light hair, I make sure I retouch my hair in time. That’s me last season in NY for the Spring/Summer 2014 shows. I also try to eat a little more healthy and hit the gym a few more times than I normally do. I also prepare my looks – some casual and night out looks. I usually have one or two things I’m excited to wear and those are usually bright items. Oh, can’t forget about the accessories – heels, bags and jewelry!
Recently, I spoke with the Modeltestants from Oxygen’s The Face (Naomi Campbell as Executive Producer and Supermodel Coach along with Anne V and Lydia Hearst as Supermodel Coaches and Nigel Barker as host of the show) to see how they prep for Fashion Week. Allison Millar shared, “My biggest thing for Fashion Week is just not getting sick because the weather is so bad and it’s so hard in New York because it’s so cold so I really just try to stay as healthy as possible like up until a month before casting like really only eating like really fresh food and trying to work out regularly and making sure like my hair, my skin and my nails and everything are really good because almost every Fashion Week I always get sick and it’s awful.”
Season 2 of Oxygen’s The Face starts Wednesday, March 5th at 10/9c
